For the record, they don't like me very much. [ bemused, but also kind of like "well this is just normal." ] But yeah. There are a few that have helped my friends out sometimes, and back when we were transporting the Athena Parthenos a bunch of them came to help us carry it when I couldn't use my powers anymore. We were trying to get it from Rome back to New York, but we only got as far as Portugal. So they helped us carry it the rest of the way back. They're also good for chariots when we need them in battle.
[ just normal things. ]
Rambunctious sounds like a very generous word for reckless, dude. But also I can almost respect that specific talent. I might even be envious if I ever needed to learn to drive. Kind of sounds like he'd fit right in with the Gray sisters though. If you want a terrifying ride where you will have, like, a 90% chance of dying, that's your ticket. [ please sound less cheerful about that. at least they're moving through the line fast. ]
[ this is what happens when you die and come back. also at least he didn't elaborate on what exactly happened that made him unable to use his powers in the first place. that's a plus.
he picks up on that tone though and he kind of raises a dubious eyebrow while i break the fourth wall and kiss valerie on the forehead.
"at least she probably has two eyes?" wait, no, say something normal, idiot. ]
Didn't think that was your type. [ maybe not that. but listen, he knows a few guys who're dating women who could easily kill them, why else is there wistfulness at that!! ] But when you put it that way, sounds kind of interesting.
[ well that makes his emotions go a lil haywire as he sputters ]
Wha--no! We weren't--we were just friends. [ and he really hates what a stock line that is. ] ...well, she and Danny were just friends. Vlad was manipulating her into hunting Danny without her realizing it.
...and then years later when I was me, she was probably the only hunter left who could hold a candle to me.
[ there are, in fact, some ppl who ship val and dan ]
[ yeah he just laughs. sorry. it's always infinitely funnier when other people's emotions are a mess instead of his own. and then there's a tiny waver of irritation again. ]
You know, the more I hear about Vlad the less I like the guy. [ a pause. ] I...have no idea if I should say no offense or not, considering.
[ he really just kind of hates when people are manipulated, period, for reasons he does not bother to explain. by now they are probably on the platform itself for the ride, waiting for the people ahead to board. ]
Sort of sounds like a case of she was trained and then turned around to be even stronger. [ impressive. ] Why was Vlad trying to hunt Danny through a teenage girl? Wait, does that matter now. It probably doesn't actually matter now.
None taken. Both he and Danny were terrible people. Vlad's just much more open about it. [ but he shrugs and answers anyway ] It was mostly just a tactic to make Danny's life more miserable, try to drive him into his arms as the protege and son that Vlad always wanted from him.
...also to gather genetic DNA from him to make clones. [ gestures down at himself: case in point ]
That's almost worse. [ muttered to himself, but it's fine. ] So what I'm hearing is he was actually sociopathic. I just wanted to be sure I was understanding that correctly.
[ the vibes are that he thinks that sounds a little weird and pathetic but. people have done stranger things. both of these can be true. ]
...we're not gonna talk about clones and stuff right now. I am simply rejecting that and treating this like everything is completely normal and you're just yourself.
[ he rolls his eyes and doesn't bother arguing because. just because. he still has a lot of things he actually does want to ask danny about, but maybe it's better this way to just...not. everything doesn't have to turn into a serious discussion right away. so he's bounding away to more or less clamber onto the dumb roller coaster cart with little concern. it's only like fifteen seconds later he kind of goes "oh, right, safety bars are a thing." ]
You know what I mean. [ never mind, he is arguing but more of a token protest. but at least once they're both settled and strapped in the ride jolts forward, slowly rolling ahead and around a corner to a starting point. ] Whatever, give me your guess on a scale of 1 to 10 how well this thing's really gonna live up to its name.
Generous. [ he's sitting up a little taller as if it'll help him see the track better while they climb higher and higher... ] Anything with less than two 360 loops is dead to me. Unless it goes insanely fast.
[ he's saying this in his usual deadpan tone but. emotionsharing means the actual emotions are extremely excited which is jarring in comparison. listen. anyone who is not excited about roller coasters is also dead to him just because again he likes anything for an adrenaline rush. ]
[ he raises an eyebrow. don't perceive him, that's rude. ]
We'll see. [ and down they go!! for my own amusement and because it just says "a couple of coasters" and after watching various youtube videos and missing coasters myself this one a.) takes off immediately at 70+ mph in 2 seconds b.) has two 360 loops and c.) a few other corkscrew turns because why the fuck not. is it entirely possible they just didn't look at the track and couldn't see it from the line? yeah. away they go!!!
this is probably a good three minutes, at least. ]
[ the thing is, he did not want to be thrilled on the thrill ride. he wanted to maintain his cool cred and be completely unaffected by this, but unfortunately he is a human being with a human heart that is pumping him full of adrenaline
and he is trying so hard to look like that's not the case. he finally manages to unpeel his fingers from the safety bar and clears his throat. ]
[ the safety bar lifts and he does actually laugh. ]
Uh huh. Guess we'll have to find something else to meet your expectations. [ devious. he does not plan to right away because danny still looks completely shellshocked, but he hops up and bounds out of the cart to the platform to exit. at least he's polite enough to wait for him to follow. ]
[ buddy. he is not perceiving! (he is definitely kind of perceiving but sparing his pride from pointing it out.) it could also be because now that they're not in the moment his emotions kind of drift out of being extremely thrilled and carefree to their baseline feelings. it's calm, but there's definitely a bit of worry mixed in, a little anxiety, and some frustration settling on the surface. his thoughts are already drifting again, but he does look over his shoulder toward him. ]
[ when his skull stops rattling around his brain and he notices the worry, the anxiety and frustration, it amplifies Danny's own and now he can't quite get back to that distraction frame of mind. ]
Looking for something else to do? I think that's why I asked you where to next. [ it's hard to say if he's doing this on purpose or not, but it does seem that most of that cocktail of emotions isn't even really directed at danny himself. ]
When you told me someone had ordered you to do what you did, I had already suspected your leader was responsible. Context of things helps. And even then, I don't think you should've died the way you did.
[ which isn't really an answer so much as an explanation for why he doesn't have an answer. ]

Well what do you know. I knew a girl with the last name Gray in Amity Park too. She also had a 90% chance of killing me at any given moment.
[ he sounds. wistful. about this girl trying to kill him. ]

And here I'd think 'dead to you' wouldn't be as bad of a rating as you make it sound. Time to find out, though.
