it's likely someone let him in so danny can come up to the second floor. per word of mod, the lounge greets you with plenty of seating and plush, red cushions and blankets for comfort. ornate red dividers and sliding doors separate this area from the kitchen. ig we also have a tv now but it's off because nico is half-drapes over will who is asleep and nico is staring off into space.

Believe it or not I would have vastly preferred the casino if this was happening twice. I'm kind of surprised it did happen again.
[ he does not think saying "i'm used to suffering" is a good idea, so he shrugs. it is weird. ]

It belonged to someone, and maybe we weren't supposed to be there, but we were and we explored where we could until the...raccoon? I guess he was a raccoon. Until he came to the door and gave us a list of stuff to do.
...on top of that we had to go and solve a mystery.
A murder mystery, eventually. [ he sounds so enthused. ] There were a lot of things wrong in that town. Reports of monster attacks, and a leader who was trying to force the townspeople to pay her to get rid of said-monster. People rebelled against her, but anyone who protested would...
[ he pauses. thinking this through. ]
Let's just say their tongues were tied and they were forced to comply with the rules of being good neighbors. Anyone who tried to look deeper into the mystery would end the same way, mouths sewn shut and spirits crushed. It all led up to the murder of one of the town's residents...the other animals all thought it was the work of a friend, that she had shot this person, and they drove her out to move her away.
It didn't add up. So we were looking into it more.
First of all, we weren't the only people in that village. A lot of people we knew were there, too. All animals. All residents of that town. All trained to be good neighbors...and forced to be silent.
Reigen wanted to visit the post office. Someone he knew had a job there, but Will and I didn't know it at the time. So we went to find Chiemi's house, because a note we found suggested someone else was going to look into it before the house was destroyed. We passed by a couple of villagers on the way...most of them didn't want anything to do with us. Most of them couldn't speak either. By the time we got to Chiemi's, the house was already falling apart but we went to explore. We found a file of stuff that Chiemi and our friends were working on, probably. About a director who was changing things in this little town. Outsiders weren't welcome. She demanded a lot of money from everyone who lived there in order to get rid of a creature that she thought was a problem.
...but people protested. Either they didn't have the money, they couldn't meet the deadline or they just didn't want to. Anyone who went against the director was dealt with the same way. Mouth sewn shut, and instructed to be a good neighbor. Keep your head down. Smile and wave. Don't cause a scene. [ a pause. ] There was a note about a neighbor's recent death, too. Norma. And about how the gun used to shoot her was found in Chiemi's house, and how the villagers drove Chiemi away. She left behind another note apologizing she couldn't finish what was started.
We didn't get too much further in that part of the investigation before the house was bombed and caved in on us.
[ he kind of appreciates danny getting to the point since he doesn't think the guy needs to hear (or, according to nico, cares to hear) about all of the details of everything that was going on. so he looks at the ceiling instead. ]
Oh yeah. In the end, we brought the creature to our side and Reigen shot the director. It worked out after a while.
[ he is. skipping so many details because he figures that's the answer danny wants. ]
[ he seems to be debating how to answer since it's a little too revealing on some aspects, but not others. ]
The director was a lady I didn't recognize. She was the one who was trying to control the creature to do things for her, but also get the villagers to pay her to get rid of the creature she was controlling. She had the whole town under her thumb. [ ... ] It was different than the casino because not only were there people we knew from here, there were people we knew from our own homes, too. All of them were controlled like puppets doing jobs around the town. Just playing their part.
...as for the creature, it was just a different kind of friend who was hurting. So we did what we could to save them. [ he is not about to out who specifically it was but i'm sure you, lisa, may have realized it is nimona. ]
It wasn't my favorite thing in the world, no. Even knowing all of it was fake, you...play along. Sometimes because you think it could be real. And sometimes because you know it isn't real but it's the best you're gonna get.
[ but he nods eventually. ]
I'm not sure if we saved them or they saved us, but it worked out. They were able to change back to who they were before, and they helped Reigen change us back, too.
...I'm deciding what parts should and shouldn't be said. I think some things people should know to prepare them in case something like this happens again. But other things feel too...intense to explain, maybe.
[ but he just kind of frowns to that. ]
We needed to change back into our animal forms before we left, after we changed into something else.

One theory suggests that a certain book may have something to do with it, though we have few leads on how at this time. What we do know is that the book was originally in the moon’s possession, until hero Silver Horse obtained it during the course of the battle. Several eyewitness accounts claim that the book was severely damaged in the ensuing struggle, inciting the moon to attack and ultimately kill Horse in its rage.
News footage seems to support this theory, but it raises yet more questions: Why would our heroes risk their lives for a book? What is its importance? What do its pages contain? Though it seems ordinary at best, it clearly holds some significance to both the moon and the heroes. Investigators have expressed interest in asking the remaining heroes about the matter, perhaps after giving them some time to grieve their lost compatriots. ]

Hmm...that's not the first time the moon's been mentioned in these--apparently anyone who loses in the competition "comes under the moon's light," whatever that means. And now they're making it sound like the moon is alive enough to...have things?
Maybe we can ask the leaders what this book is supposed to be.

It can't hurt to ask them though. I was going to talk to mine, but it's probably better to ask all of them. They seem to be sharing information amongst themselves anyway.
