anyway, danny reads the note, brow furrowing, before handing Nico's phone back to him. ]
Hmm...that's not the first time the moon's been mentioned in these--apparently anyone who loses in the competition "comes under the moon's light," whatever that means. And now they're making it sound like the moon is alive enough to...have things?
Maybe we can ask the leaders what this book is supposed to be.
[ listen it was extremely fun for me, less for him. it's fine. he will take phone. ]
Yeah, I've been thinking about that, too. I think I'm a little less surprised about the moon being alive than I am about some of the other things that have been going on here. It can't hurt to ask them though. I was going to talk to mine, but it's probably better to ask all of them. They seem to be sharing information amongst themselves anyway.
There's also the part where the prinnies used to be human, so think about that fun discovery for a bit, too. [ he may as well share that just in case. ]
...I would hope they'd be willing to talk to us about these things. Especially since all of us are trying to get out of here. Seems a little dumb not to.
Yeah, mood. [ well. ] I mean more like I'd rather keep how our afterlives work because even though rebirth is an option I cannot think of any hero who has been reborn as a penguin.
For heroes specifically? Elysium. Think of it like paradise. For the particularly virtuous or the heroic who're judged and granted Elysium, they're allowed to stay there, or they can opt for rebirth. If you live and die three times, and you reach Elysium three times, you're allowed entrance to the Isles of the Blest. So...ultimate paradise.
Most people end up in Asphodel because most human lives end up unremarkable. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but death is death. You eventually forget who you are the longer you're there. [ a pause. ] And obviously there's the Fields of Punishment, but I feel like that's self-explanatory. Obviously the goal is Elysium though.
I think our world might be an exception. Or at least most people think death is as simple as what you're saying. Most people don't know the gods are real so...who knows? I don't think it's bad for it to be that simple either.
True enough. [ true...enough. ] Weird as it is to say, maybe things being less complicated here isn't as bad as we think it is. All of the weird field trips and stuff notwithstanding. I could use a break from those for a while to focus on something else.
Because my entire life is meant to be a nightmare? [ it's muttered, but then he seems to realize he said it and he shakes his head. ] No idea. I've been trying to figure it out, too. Maybe the guy watching us got tired of me waiting for the Halloween store to open.
[ also a joke, but it's pretty clear that he has zero idea and it freaks him out a little. ]
It would definitely be more unconventional than the other reasons this has happened to me before, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it was something that dumb.
Sure. It's always easier when they're upfront about why they're kidnapping me. Usually as bait, but you know. [ but the way he says it is a little too stilted like maybe he doesn't want to think that hard about it, so he waves it off. ] No offense to everybody but I would appreciate being kidnapped less for once.

I'll be talking to Tiger about it for sure, but we'll see if any of them know. And if they do know, whether they'll be willing to tell us.

Do you have any idea how often I do kind of wish my life was easier to understand?

I can imagine. I wish mine was less complicated too, and I've only got one form of afterlife to worry about.

Any idea why you got nabbed twice?

That'd be one hell of a petty motive to kidnap someone a second time.
