He mentioned to me he'd been killed prior to coming here. So. That's probably part of it, too. [ ...hm. ] I can understand what his line of thinking was. I just don't agree with how it went.
A little hard to care about what happens to your world when you aren't there anymore to affect it anyway. I have a feeling tomorrow's execution might almost be a relief to him.
[ there's a nod. and then he figures it's a perfectly reasonable time to say: ]
That's one of the things I'm going to start looking into, I think. I have questions about how things have happened and I'd like to know what to expect later.
One of the leaders has to have some idea, and if they don't they have to know where to look. Our victims aren't exactly getting their burial rites taken care of, not to mention their bodies are just vanishing into thin air. I want to find out why, and where they may be going.
I wouldn't give them enough credit to know where ghosts might be ending up here. But a morgue, or a cemetery...that they might know. Not that that helps either.
...unless it does, the way ghosts and the afterlife works in your world.
I wouldn't say it's a guarantee, but I can work with a cemetery. I've done summonings there before, it's just about digging the pit, offering the sacrifice and the right chants.
...if this ever gets too weird, just say the word. [ he kind of shrugs. ] People aren't exactly used to what I can do back where I'm from either, so I don't talk about it much.
[ and the thing is, stupidly, even if he doesn't always care very much about how people perceive him he does kind of want to keep this thing more comfortable and not freak people out. ]
[ shrugs ] It's not that it's weird, it's just not how any of this stuff works where I'm from. You can't summon ghosts, and finding the Ghost Zone takes more...science equipment than magic rituals.
I don't think I'd have the patience for the science behind ghost hunting, so I'll call us even. [ haha. ] ...revealing much about our nature is...it's not really a taboo thing, but most people don't believe it anyway and then they get scared and it's a whole big deal. I guess I'm still getting used to other people sort of getting it. Even if it's not totally the same.
Oh trust me, I know. I...spent my whole life as "the son of the town kooks" until my parents punched a hole through reality. Now it's kind of hard to deny, but...only in Amity Park. To the rest of the world, this is all still sci-fi and campfire stories.
[ what a weird point to connect on, even tangentially. but it's kind of. you know. nice? in a weird way. it's something demigods in general have to deal with, but it's sort of nice that this is someone who's at least in the same realm of abilities. ]
Mortals see what they want to see, and I guess to be fair before I remembered who I was I always thought it was a bunch of myths and stories, too. But no sense in denying it anymore when at least a few people know, you know? [ a pause. ] You're lucky to have your friends and your sister.
[ he remembers that being mentioned and he stands by that point. ]
[ he notes the tone and decides that is something to maybe ask about later. especially since he realizes now he just opened himself up for more explanations. ]
...it's complicated, but let's just say that for a very long time I had no idea who my father was and had believed I was an orphan.
[ there's a moment where it's probably really obvious nico is debating how much he feels like elaborating in this very moment. ]
It's complicated, but yes. That's about the basics of it. I don't really know how much I knew before, but I must have known at least a few things since it wasn't as though my father wasn't around every now and then.
[ danny may get the sense that nico's soul is staring into middle distance. ]
An argument with my father. But even before that, I was remembering bits and pieces. Not everything right away. And there are still some things I don't entirely remember either.
Hades tries. [ tiredly. he does not linger on the fact that he knows he and his father are similar in a lot of ways and that's probably why they fight. ] I mean, half the time he has no idea what he's doing and I have to argue constantly just to get him to listen to anything I'm saying, but he's trying. It's...a lot better than it was when I was a kid. Now I can actually get him to tell me things without going through thirteen hoops.

That...definitely puts things in a different perspective.

Maybe. If this is a world without an afterlife, anyway.
