It's complicated, but yes. That's about the basics of it. I don't really know how much I knew before, but I must have known at least a few things since it wasn't as though my father wasn't around every now and then.

An argument with my father. But even before that, I was remembering bits and pieces. Not everything right away. And there are still some things I don't entirely remember either.

[ tiredly. he does not linger on the fact that he knows he and his father are similar in a lot of ways and that's probably why they fight. ] I mean, half the time he has no idea what he's doing and I have to argue constantly just to get him to listen to anything I'm saying, but he's trying. It's...a lot better than it was when I was a kid. Now I can actually get him to tell me things without going through thirteen hoops.
Which is saying something since I am deeply allergic to optimism. [ stop. ] But I guess enough has changed recently that I can stand it a little better than usual.
[ he considers this, and he thinks maybe it's shitty to talk about this when two people are dead and they're sentencing another to death tomorrow, but...those things brought him to this point anyway. ]
