[ well, maya is a fellow starfarer, which means she gets to see dante going absolutely ape on this new punching bag!!

by which i mean he's trying to go ape but uhhhh he's kind of bad at it? he hasn't used punching bags much. so his rhythm is off and his punches range wildly from good enough to send the thing swinging, to weak and misaimed so his hand slides right off it. ]

[ she's no expert at throwing punches herself, so she quietly watches as he does this.. waiting for a lull. but she hangs out nearby, just out of reach of getting hit by the swinging bag ]

[ well. she will get her lull, eventually, in the form of dante mistiming his punches and the bag swinging into him before he can hit it

he doesn't fall over but he does stumble and make an "oof" sound ]

[ she gets close enough to hold out a hand to try to steady him ]

You okay?

[ physically, anyway ]

[ he very consciously does not take the offered hand, just rebalances on his own

he grits out, ] I'm fine.

Okay...

[ she looks between him and the punching bag ]

... I'm sorry about Vi.

Why does everyone keep saying that?

Because it sucks that she died.

[ plain and simple ]

Does it? We know she's not dead for good. We know we can get her back. None of this is permanent. None of it really counts.

[feytality]

It still sucks that she left us. Even if it doesn't really "count", it doesn't change that it still happened.

[ punches the bag again ]
