A long time ago, Trinity was made up of three different schools. Eventually they all signed a treaty and over time they turned into one school. But there was a fourth school, Arius, that refused to join them and fell into ruin. Trinity and Arius have been bitter enemies ever since.
Then there's Gehenna. A terrible, chaotic school. But one that Nagisa, as a host of the Tea Party, was going to sign a peace treaty with. Not to merge, but to cease fire.
In secret, I allied with Arius. I sent assassins after my friends so that I could take over the Tea Party, sabotage the treaty with Gehenna, and lead Trinity into war against them.
Seia was hurt badly. Nagi I intended to imprison so that I wouldn't have to kill her. For a while I was even led to believe that Seia had been killed, and I continued on anyway.
... And I did it out of nothing but hate for Gehenna.
... In the end, Seia recovered and my plan was dissolved. The Eden Treaty was signed, and after... a little bit more trouble, Arius faded back into the shadows.
Whether it's an accident or not, the result is what matters. Is it 'fair' to let a killer walk free after they pulled the trigger? Just because they didn't realize what would happen?

... For starters.

Huh. So a case of choosing the lesser evil? Choosing to kill if it means a better outcome?

Rather than thinking about it as if there are lesser evils, it was simply a matter of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
I don't think anyone who nearly gets their best friends killed can claim that they were thinking of a lesser evil.

...why'd you do all that?

What a joke.

I was just trying to move on, but...

Sounds about right, honestly. The only thing life loves more than karma is being unfair.

You go back on something terrible you did once and try to move on, only to get sentenced to death over an honest accident, and you call that fair?

...people have done far worse and gotten off scot free.
I mean, even the other "villains" here just get caught and thrown in jail, and I'm sure they've killed others intentionally.
I don't know what 'fair' is...but it's not this.
