It is law enforcement. Law enforcement has a lot of paperwork and bureaucracy involved in it too, you know. You have to file a report for every arrest and file for warrants and a lot more.

Something like the same reason why a lot of FBI cases and investigations aren't just widely available for the public to peruse. And because it's a relatively new department, though I guess it's been a good number of years now...
I'm not trying to pull rank on you. I'm a citizen just like you, regardless of my job, at least in terms of normal standards. I don't like it when government workers try to use their status to bolster their ego.
That being said... if I can use it to get to talk to someone who knows something, then I wouldn't say no to that.
