Hmm. No fairies, where I came from. Just ghosts. Although plenty ghosts can be fairy-like. I knew one that looked a lot like you, actually.

Really? What were they like?

Their name was Shadow--yes, original, I know. And they were a literal shadow, of another ghost named Johnny 13. But the shadow was also its own person. It could act as his physical shadow, or it could become its own entity acting on its own. It didn't really talk, and it caused bad luck to everything it touched or fought.

Interesting. They don't sound exactly like the shadows I know, but... not entirely dissimilar, either.

... Do you often encounter ghosts?

Well. Back where I first came from, yes, all the time. I am a ghost myself, after all.

Well, not right now. Obviously I don't have any of my ghost powers here. And I've...been shoved into a human body. But inside? That's all ghost.

You have "ghost powers" normally?

[foreverphantom]

[ waves a hand dismissively ] It's just shorthand to mean that I can switch into ghost form whenever I want, and use most ghostly abilities even in human form.

Does that mean you can separate your spirit from your body at will...?

[ trying to picture this. ]

More like there's two layers to me, and I can turn myself inside out to show the human or the spirit at will.

Glowing rings. When they pass over me, the other form is revealed. I'd show you, but, well. [ nerfed. ]

Right... I suppose we'll all be without our powers, perhaps for the entire duration of this.

Probably, if this is the state we'll be in for the duration of this. Not even last time was I left this powerless.

Does being a...shadow fairy give you any powers that you don't have access to anymore?

I can control soot.

... but without any powers, the soot is just a nuisance.
