Sometimes you grow up with ghost researchers who have a lab full of dangerous inventions in the basement, and then consent to being an experiment because you don't want to live anymore.
And sometimes you're another ghost researcher with a lab who wants to do said experiment as a last ditch effort to keep him alive.
And sometimes it goes horribly wrong and then you end up being both of those people at the same time.
